I love Jo-Jo. I remember when Alex
told me about him... I did not know
what I was in for. This guy is one
of the best. Fab! Just fab!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You could try these things but I've no idea if any will actually help. Go to Edit/Preferences/ QuickTime Preferences, and there's a couple of things you could try. On the 'streaming' tab, at the bottom where it says Enable Instant-On, try moving the slider either left or right to 'Immediately' or 'Short Delay'. Another thing there is 'Override speed for downloads', you could try that instead of automatic. Under the 'File Types' see if ticking the 'Streaming-streaming movies' box makes any difference, or maybe yours is ticked already. Mine isn't ticked actually but I don't have a delay problem ( at least, not with this video clip) so it may or may not make any difference. On the 'Advanced' tab you could try increasing the 'Download Cache' which on mine says 100MB at the very right. There's also an 'Empty Cache' button which might be worth clicking to clear the cache. Also, go to Edit/Preferences/ Player Preferences and see if 'Use high quality video setting when available ' is ticked. Again, mine isn't but if yours is, try unticking it and see if it helps any. Or conversely, if yours is unticked, then tick it to see if that helps.Originally posted by Henry II:
I had already upgraded but it still won't play right. I have the same problem with many of the gosplechops.com videos. The sound is fine but the video starts and stops. Argggggh.
Finally, there's also the matter of firewalls. To quote something I found at quicktimes site, " QuickTime streaming uses Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) to ensure the best performance. If your network connection is protected by a firewall, you may want to use the HTTP protocol instead.
To use HTTP streaming:
In QuickTime Player, choose Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences.
Choose Streaming Transport.
Select "Use this protocol and port ID," and choose "Use HTTP Port ID."
If QuickTime can configure itself for your firewall, you can now watch streaming QuickTime movies. "
None of this may help but it's my best shot. Good luck.

Good eye, Andy!
Yeah that looks like a special beater shaft (maybe by trick drums?!) that is either making the beater hit the head sooner that a straight shaft would (closer to the head) or more to the right... can't tell if it's curving towards the head or off to the side... I had to hit pause many times. Maybe this is a small "trick" to his bass drum speed and technique?!
That's what I was thinking CL. It looks like the bend is towards the head. Jojo also emphasized playing with light weight pedals. The pedal he was using is no longer made (can't remember which one it was).
I also noticed that unique pedal. From his site I found out it MAY be called:
"Sonor phonic Z53 70 "
It is mentioned that its production has been discontinued, and unfortunately I am not able to find any good pictures of it.
His site also mentions that jojo's in the middle of developing a prototype pedal that suits his playing style and technique. Perhaps that could be it too.

They were defaulted as yours were. Do you think it could be a RAM problem. I only have 256mb of RAM. I have had the same problem with other players on occasion ie: gospelchops.com video clips played on WMP. Some of those GC videos work ok, others not. But, this is the first time I've had a problem with a Drummerworld video. BTW, it's only the video which freezes them jumps ahead over and over, while the audio is fine.
Speaking of bass drum sounds, I really like the sound of Jojo's 20" kick on this recording. And what is that by his floor? Is that an 8" tom?
At 00:01:34 you can see the crazy bend in the bass drum beater shaft. I noticed this when I saw this gig in New Jersey. And again on this clip. WHAT IS THAT?

First you say he's dragging and then you say he's rushing!? Make up your mind.
If you want to see someone dragging AND rushing the beat, watch the Jason Bittner clip.
Nobody's perfect, but JoJo's technique is damn close...
and I thought I was critical! lol
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I'll look into my video card. My connection speed is blistering fast. I've downloaded music files up to 7mb per second althought it's usually just under 1mb per second. But, even when I save the clip to my HD it's choppy.Originally posted by Rudy_Ment:
It could well be the ram, henry. It could also be your video card or a combination of both. What card are you running? Nvidia or ati? I run a radeon 9800pro which has 128mb memory, and I have 768mb of system ram. That's kind of minimum today for a lot of applications, but mostly, for computer games. I don't actually know though if 256mb ram would affect short video clips that much, but it could.
Looking into your video card settings might give you a clue to something. Also, how fast is your internet connection?
Hey CL,
Ummmm, without being cute and keen, because I can sometimes have an evil sense of humour, re-read what I wrote. In music, when you resolve something BEFORE it's meant to be resolved, that's rushing. So I never said he dragged anything. Read it again my friend. Resolved BEHIND the DOWNBEAT means, rushing. Got it now?
Yes I'm critical, but I am trying to better myself as a player. I have to be critical. I didn't say it was not a great technical performance.
